Conception

Many things can affect a couples ability to conceive. Problems may stem from physical, emotional or environmental stresses and/or the timing of intercourse.  Our instructors work with the couple to help them remove any obstacles and to help them understand the signs that accompany the time of ovulation for the woman's individual cycle.

Three things necessary for conception

Three things are necessary for conception: sperm, an egg and the presence of fertile-type cervical mucus.  Without mucus, the sperm will die within hours.  Couples struggling with infertility can learn to recognize when they are most likely to conceive by learning The Ovulation Method.  When a woman is instructed in The Ovulation Method, she learns to identify the signs that accompany the time when she is fertile- when conception can occur.

Fertile for 100 hours a month

Men are potentially fertile all the time whereas women are only potentially fertile about 100 hours a month.  At certain times of life or because of stress, illness or inadequate nutrition a woman may only be fertile for a few hours in her cycle.  By being able to recognize her peak of fertility, the chances of achieving pregnancy are greatly increased.

Summary of Results
Study involved all couples who expressed a desire to achieve a pregnancy and 
who attended 17 Australian Billings Ovulation Method™ clinics within the required 
time frame. All couples included regardless of age, cycle length or pre-diagnosed sub-fertile indicators of either patner.

207 women in the study were classified as sub-fertile – trying to achieve a pregnancy for more than 12 months 
(e.g. 20 couples had been unsuccessful with IVF/AI – 7 achieved pregnancy with Billings Ovulation Method™)  Outcome known for 172:

Of the 17 couples who had previously attempted InVitro Fertilisation (IVF) without success, 5 of 17 (29%) conceived with Billings Ovulation Method™ guidelines only.

Satisfaction:
93% stated they were satisfied and would recommend Billings Ovulation Method™ to others.
95% stated that the Billings Ovulation Method™ gave an understanding of fertility and infertility.
